陳瀅如的創作近年來關注於將太空科學、神祕學等方法與民族主義、種族歧視、集體(無)意識以及人類處境等議題進行聯結和思考。《天─象、地─物:序》是一件長期計劃的第一章節。這件作品結合中世紀的瑞士醫生、煉金術士帕拉塞爾蘇斯(Paracelsus)的大宇宙∕自然、小宇宙∕本我的觀念,以「天上如此,地下亦然」來詮釋身體與現代醫學手術的關係。該作先從身體出發,來做為計劃的開端以整合相對性的原素:宇宙論∕占星學、當代醫學∕煉金術。接著再階段性地,於接下來的章節一步步地擴展至探討完美、淨化、轉換、身體之於國家暴力等議題;以及人類與宇宙之間的相互關連。 |
The recent works of CHEN Yin-Ju focus on the reflections and connections of approaches such as space technology, mysticism and that of ideologies including nationalism, racism, collective (un)consciousness, as well as the situations of mankind. "Prologue: as Above, so Below" is the first chapter of a long-term project, which draws the concept of Macrocosm (Nature) vs. Microcosm (Man), proposed by Paracelsus, a Swiss Renaissance Physician and alchemist, so as to demonstrate the idea of "as Above, so Below" and the relationship between human body and modern medical surgery. This work sets off from the body itself as the beginning of the project to combine the elements of relativity: Cosmology/Astrology and Modern medicine/Alchemy. Then, stage by stage in the following chapters, it sets to explore the issues of perfection, purification, transformation and individuality vs. state violence, and ultimately the connection between the human race and the Universe. |
